Laid out by James Braid, shaped ever since by the sea
The first golf course appeared on the links of Embleton Bay in 1900, before being redesigned by the legendary James Braid. A traditional links, guarded by bunkers and gorse, it asks you to read an ever-changing wind as the holes bend around the bay and back.
Free-draining links land means Dunstanburgh often stays open through weather that closes courses inland — and you play onto the regular greens all year, so the round you get in January is the round you came for.

The clubhouse

Our clubhouse is a relaxed, friendly place for members, visiting golfers and the general public alike. Staff are on hand all day, catering runs from morning to late afternoon, and there is plenty of parking right outside.
Refurbishment from 28 September
A full refurbishment begins on 28 September and runs to early December — a fresh, modern space that tells the history of Dunstanburgh. We are not closing: the Greenkeepers Barn keeps a licensed bar and the full kitchen menu going throughout, in a characterful barn setting.
